King Curtis was born Curtis Ousley on February 7ty 1934, in Fort Worth,
Texas. He was prominent in the 1950's as a session musician in New York, even
guesting on John Lennon's "Imagine". This collection brings you some of the
best hits and covers from King Curtis, such as "Memphis Soul Stew", "Spanish
Harlem" and "Whiter Shade Of Pale". It also features sven gems from Curtis'
classic "Live At Fillmore West" album, including the classic "Ode To Billy
Joe", a cover of Stevie Wonders' "Signed, Sealed, Delivered", and an
incredible version of Led Zeppelins' "Whole Lotta Love". Curtis was murdered
outside his flat in August 1971, in a knife attack that was (according to Sam
Moore), witnessed by both himself and Aretha Franklin, who were arriving at
his home to talk over some recording sessions he was producing with them.
