TECHNICAL NOTES:
we're aware of the release by TWCMP3, and we've listened
carefully to it. why did we rerelease this set? we found
the following problems with TWCMP3's release:
- the level is too high, the sound is clipped a lot, you
can easily hear it on the bassdrum, especially after min.5
- there's a subtle but annoying reverb that's not present
in the original recording. could be a pre-echo problem due
to the encoding used to broadcast it on the UPC system
- the artefacts due to low quality encoding are also
quite evident, listen carefully to high frequency sounds
(like hi-hats) and you'll hear them.
Saboteur - 1REAL quality control

nice change to the usual essential mix bill (anyone want
to discuss Tong's monopolization.)
mixed feelings about the set - 1st hour was mindnumbing,
2nd hour was great
or perhaps that's just because i had a headache
i fixed my SB live today so i can finally move back up
that notch from the SB128 i had to trust my line-in
recordings with for so long.
Interesting level readings now i've gone back to
SBLive!. levels seem much more erratic, and harder to
find peak. Very different to my experience with SB128
(consistent levels - easy to clip).
the EQ on the broadcast is questionable, sounding much
lighter and less 'beefy' than previous weeks (that's
what we got the DFX plugin for though)
the only other thing to note is that the set was
broadcast much quieter than the radio show before it -
so although the line-in fader was near the top - the
recording was only peaking at -3db (strange).
However - it should be a good recording, and if i find
any problems i'll fix them by next week, which happens
to be a 4-hour special from Seb Fontaine, Futureshock &
Carl Cox.
Is it just me or is anyone else noticing the recent
trend in the selection of DJs.
