Release Notes:
What on earth is it with Austrlian musicians? They
kick out the best, most consistently interesting pop
music and have for years. Grand Atlantic is going to
be a major find for many of you. It is for me. The
Australian influences are there...Even and You Am I,
in particular. Definitely Sloan and, for those who
know the Swiss pop band, Miles, a bit here. There's
a wonderful thing that happens when a band steps out
from the shadows of their influences and confidently
asserts their own sound, their own thoughts and
their own reason for being - people listen and take
note. We have a tendency to just say the obvious
when there's a band we are over the top on."Stop
reading, just listen below." This is one of those
times. It all pours out of your speakers when you
put the album on - a brave, affecting, uplifting set
of songs that showcase the yearning vulnerability in
Phil Usher's voice, the pop perfection of their
songwriting and the precise ability of the band to
understand and capture the essence of each tune.
With a perfectionist production quality that bears
witness to endless hours in the studio and a
commitment to getting it just right, this is a band
that revives memories of pop's glorious past and
provides clear signposts to a brighter future. "This
is a band which has assimilated all there is worth
knowing in the world of orchestral pop and bends
that knowledge to their own will... 4 stars." -
Courier Mail. Let Grand Atlantic into your world -
you'll be glad you did... EXTREMELY Highly
Recommended!
