FOLLOWING on from their top 30 Billboard album debut,
Saosin have released a single of the same name. This is
post hardcore territory with a liberal emo smattering,
condensed with tension and coiled around arpeggiated
guitar. Voices walks the walk on a similar path to My
Chemical Romance.
Singer Cove Reber (not an anagram) has an eerie way with
melody and a fine voice but the layered vocal is at times
battling with too much texture in what is a very eighties
and transatlantic sounding mix.
It probably sounds better live with less embellishment and
with a more rough and ready approach, but Voices is still
an accomplished single suited to the stadium circuit.
