If you thought Gossip's first hit single Standing In The
Way Of Control' was catchy and near unavoidable, you now
have follow up 'Listen Up!' to contend with. Blissfully,
it combines punk, funk and soul to create a toe-tapping,
head-nodding, lyric-shouting sure fire dance floor filler.
Once again leading lady Beth Ditto's voice is nerve
jinglingly rich and riotous, there is a guitar hook as
addictive as Facebook and a drum line of such variety and
creativity you could just listen to it on its own and
still love the song.
Although much more 'produced' than the original album
version, it doesn't detract from its rawness or passion at
all. This is most definitely a track to be reckoned with,
that will only further cement Gossip's place in the public
eye.
