20 Vintage Funky Tunes From The Jewel/Paula Vaults

As slippery as a eel, and about as funky too! This
heavy little volume is filled with funky soul and
blues tracks from the legendary Jewel/Paula family of
labels -- easily one of the hippest southern record
companies at the end of the 60s! Many of the numbers
here have a sly, slinky sort of groove -- slow funk
with plenty of southern soul touches -- often served
up with slowly romping rhythms at the bottom, and lots
of real soul vocals on the top. A few of the artists
here are better known from their earlier recordings,
but step out here even more nicely for the funky 45
generation.
