We're always open to suggestions on how we should be ripping and
releasing things from other reputable groups, we've definitely got a
long way to go compared to other groups. But we think it's about time
that the ruleset that's being used to dictate a release should be
upgraded. More specifically to include a more precise WEB section.
Fair enough it's been mentioned (and that there are some groups/sites
that don't favour WEB releasers) to a small degree but things are
still unclear.
Section 11 has two distinct (albeit blurry) quality specifications.
11.1 states that "releases made from MP3s (online bought" should
"release the MP3 unmodified as you download it" with the stipulation
that ID3 tags are added/removed as need to comply with the rest of
the rules. Case in point: Audiojelly tracks. They receive their
fair share of "Promo" MP3's due to labels sending tracks as is.
We can't tell the label to encode using the same encoder, it's
their choice (whether the artist does or not.)
With that, should we not be allowed to release tracks we bought
at a store because they use multiple encoders? Say these tracks
don't make their way past any webstore and are the exact same files
on every store (Beatport, DJDownload, Junodownload, Audiojelly, etc.)
If there's nothing technically wrong with track, would a PROPER
still be required? (Apart from the blaringly obvious if there is
skips or pops due to an incompetent label distributer, a PROPER
would make sense.)
