We don't like being the bearer of bad news for anyone, but claiming
that tracks that we've bought from a store because of their inability
to use the same encoder (or for that matter, the same flags) for
the whole release, it's just not on. You're right in your assumption
that we aren't able to "transforms" full stereo tracks into joint,
because we haven't. You'll note that the file sizes, are... Yes,
exactly the same. The sample size and encoding delay are, yes, you
guessed it. Exactly the same. Shit, even the replaygain value is
exactly the same.
They are all compressed tracks, right? So, in theory, if we were
to be doing any sort of re-encoding, the tracks would be some what
smaller due to their already compressed parent, no? Simple maths
show us that lossy * lossy = lossy^2.
Beatport have been known for their fuckups (uploading half tracks,
mislabelled tracks, weird encoding flags/parameters) and it doesn't
surprise us that this was one of them. No sooner had we bought the
tracks, they were nowhere to be found on Beatport for another hour
or so. As if to prove our "motives", we found this release. No idea
who it is (but it sounds pretty catchy.) We're sick of flinging,
and having mud flung.
You've gotta remember, --preset insane = -b 320.
