Soulful house music from the Mantis label, courtesy of
Derby-based producer Martin Iveson, who ropes in Robert
Owens for a silky smooth vocal and production dupo Slope
for a pair of remixes. The Sonar Kollektiv duo first offer
up a '90s Remix', which feels a whole lot more laid back
than the original, fuelled by simple electric piano
chords, synth strings and a simplified beat, while the
cleaned up vocal sails over the top. A second Slope remix
is a kind of halfway house (pun intended) between the
original and their other mix. During the verses all but
the beat and percussion line gets dropped, leaving the
vocal exposed, while the chorus brings the stabbing
flourishes back from the Atjazz original.
