The original mix of "Song For Marie & Elise" is a lovely electro-
acoustic number, with some nice guitar work colouring the
background whilst a nice loop of chimes plays in the fore, oddball
beats and some sweet plucked guitar also feature. After two
successive monsters on Eskimo, Aeroplane return with a killer
rework here. Their version is a suitably ace slab of nu school
space disco, pretty much doing what they do best. Over on side-B
"Code 7249" goes straight for the jugular with a great uptempo
disco number which features if I am not mistaken a big old rave
piano sample (just been corrected on this, it is an original piano
line, sorry, but it does sound like Outlander "Vamp"), big groovy
bass sounds, weird synth FX and loads more piano in the latter half
where things get totally brilliant, with some funky guitar too
(sounds a little like "Dreadlock Holiday" meets "Long Train
Running"!).
