20 Vintage Funky Tunes From The Jewel/Paula Vaults

A heavy collection of rare funk singles from the many
labels in the Jewel/Paula universe! The company is
best known for its work in the southern soul and blues
field, but during the 60s and 70s, they also issued
plenty of great funky 45s -- some by artists with
bigger fame at the label, but lots more by one-off
acts who never got the kind of exposure they deserved.
Many of the tracks here are right from the nitty
grittiest side of the deep funk spectrum -- heavy
southern numbers recorded with a nicely raspy sound,
both on the instruments and the vocals -- and although
a number of tracks here are familiar from LP releases,
many are making their CD debuts in this tasty little
set!
