After the dark and twisted Techno sound design of MY MY's "SERPENTINE
EP"(PLAY 117), the Berlin based trio returns, adding yet another
flavour to their musical pie, as "SWISS ON RYE" clearly shows their
love for pop music deeply rooted in the 80s. A time, when little Lee
and Nick did quite decent Robert Smith impersonations and sang the
latest The Smiths smash into their brushes, striking poses in front
of the bathroom mirror, while little Carsten probably laid his hands
on a K-Tel Multi Trimmer... Dreamy, poppy aerobic sounds, a rhythm
shaker and pizzicato strings all help creating this beautiful crafted
longingly piece of music."BROWN LILY" on the flipside sees MY MY's
return to more familiar terrains, although it has got a nice old
school feel to it as well. "BROWN LILY" is a straight jacking bleep
fest, roughing up dancefloors with the right amount of spontaneity.
You might even hear some psychedelic influences in there but its phat
punch will rock every dancefloor, we promise!
MY MY are on the right track, producing more and more stuff for their
upcoming debut album on Playhouse in fall this year. Watch out!
