Review translated from German:
Bazooka Joe was the late eighties, a British electro-pop band from the
environment of the Cassandra Complex, consisting of Paul Dillon, Paul
Fryer and The Professor. Paul Dillon was previously a founding member
of Cassandra Complex, which he already after the second single, left,
and Cassandra Complex along with guitarist Andy Booth also in the
project WMTID involved.
Unlike the rough, gitarrenorientierten Cassandra Complex, at the latest
by their contribution to the legendary sampler 'This Is Electronic Body
Music' cult status had reached was the music of Bazooka Joe gefΣlliger
far. Solid and well audible pop music halt. Similarity to the music of
Cassandra Complex was on some tracks quite audible, the obvious
handwriting of the former Cassandra Complex guitarist Andy Booth.
Otherwise, they were more with the Simple Minds or compared Depeche
Mode, which also comes about.
After an EP and two Maxis was the culmination of the work of this band
of the 90s undoubtedly Album 'Virtual World', which I still like to
hear. On the occasion of the publication of 'Virtual World' at the
time, there was even a small portrait of this band in a major German TV
magazine. The big breakthrough was this formation still sadly denied.
It was followed by a single but then one has unfortunately nothing more
from them. Even the CDs this band are unfortunately no longer
available. Really a shame!
