Alex Rostotsky was born on March 15, 1955 in Tver, Russia. He
started studying music at the age of 7 playing the piano. In
1972 he entered a musical college, department of choral
conducting.
In 1976 he entered a jazz school in Moscow and began playing
the electric bass.
From 1983, he performed on jazz festivals with many first-rate
musicians and toured throughout Russia.
In 1986 he started to tour Europe and Asia, performed with
many famous musicians, such as Bill Skeat, Ron Affif, Dr.L.
Subramaniam, Paul Bollenback, Billy Cobham, Bob Bray, Tim
Armacost, Tal Farlow.
In 1994 he created his own project named "Jazz Bass Theatre"
which is organized like a real repertory theatre - every play
in this Theatre has its own stylistic color: from very
intimate and delicate ballads to aggressive and almost
avant-garde songs, from extensive and meditative to modern
classical music interspersed with poetical items.
Alex toured extensively with this project and recorded the
music for several Russian, European and American companies.
