Long-term Bjork collaborators Mark Stent and Matthew Herbert
take the helm on mixing duties for this latest single to be liftedRnotes
from the Volta LP.
'Wanderlust' comes closer to the dizzy heights of Homogenic
than anything Bjork's done in recent years, employing those
volcanic Mark Bell beats to great effect.
The Mark Stent mix does a great job of rationalising all the various,
noisy elements whilst keeping that incredible voice at the centre
of all the action.
You'll already be familiar with that version though, so onto the
awesome Matthew Herbert remix, which might well be the best
thing he's done in years.
Herbert's deconstruction of the track is beautifully assembled
from all manner of sampled debris and detritus, with an evolving
synthesizer reconfiguration of the backing track's melodic elements.
It's all rather wonderful and is set to disappear almost instantly.
