Beautiful album...
Special dedication: Diane... :o)
Paper Bag Records is proud to release StarsÆ new album
Heart, the bandÆs highly anticipated sophomore album and
first official Canadian release. With a full length,
Nightsongs, and two EP's on their previous label in the
U.S., along with active touring, the band has garnered
incredible press in major publications, and have built a
very dedicated and loyal fan base. Nightsongs, currently in
its third pressing in the U.S., was called "one of the most
thoroughly listenable albums in pop music history" and was
pursued and further exposed by KCRW's popular and highly
influential "Morning Becomes Eclectic" radio show. The shows
host, Nic Harcourt, even selected Stars for his KCRW: Sounds
Eclectic CD on Palm.
When at a loss for words, one music writer said the only way
to describe Stars was "beautiful hope". Their music has also
been described as "breath-takingly effervescent" and they
have been called the kind of band that "blue lights and fog
machines are made for". Heart is a definitive pop classic,
recalling the best of Prefab Sprout, The Smiths, Saint
Etienne and New Order. Well-respected British producer Ian
Catt (Saint Etienne) joined on and enthusiastically
volunteered to mix three songs, and the albumÆs other songs
were mixed by Canadian producer Dave Hodge (Bran Van 3000,
Wu-Tang Clan). Wendy Morgan, who won 'Best Director' and
'Best Independent Video' at the 2002 MuchMusic Video Awards
for the Swollen Members video "Fuel Injected", will direct
the video for the first single, "Elevator Love Letter".
Stars, who have played in the past with such stellar bands
such as The Dears, St. Etienne, Broken Social Scene and
Goldfrapp, will embark on a Canadian tour in late March,
which will be followed by a full UK and European tour in
early summer.
Enjoy!
