Our band is called Muariolanza, we play ambient-jazz. We are from
Poland. Here you can read a little bit about us:
..................... Mauriolanza plays ambient-jazz. In 2007
Mauriolanza recorded second album äPo drugiej stronie Przemszyö (it
will be officially released in 7 April 2008). The recording session
lasted only one day: the band walked in to the studio for three
hours, recorded everything and then selected best versions of the
songs (half of them was composed before the session, and half was
born in there, while improvisations).......... Debut album
äMauriolandö was released in March 2006. Two singles from this
album were chosen for ôBezladö - the television theatre play
(directed by Witold Adamek, with polish movie stars, premiere in
June 2007). The group prepared also two CDs of the äMauriolanza
Homeö series: with songs recorded in their home studio (they are
for sale at their concerts - info on www.mauriolanza.pl). In the
summer of 2007 the group went on tour around Poland and was
enthusiasticaly welcomed at Off Festival and JAZ Festival. äThis
music is totally transgressive. Mauriolanza reveals totally new
face of jazzö - wrote diapazon.pl.
..........................Muariolanza was founded by Mariusz
Orzelowski, the Institute of Jazz at the Musical Academy in
Katowice graduate. But MariolanzaÆs music is not only jazz. Mariusz
is an ambient music, Brian EnoÆs fan and he follows John CageÆs
philosophy - everything is music. He records all the sounds around
him (whether itÆs a sound of snow under his shoes, Amsterdam in
rush hours and in the silent of the night or the washing mashine),
he samples them and usees in his songs. MauriolanzaÆs music
contains jazz and ambient but also reggae, funk, noise and a lot of
psychedelic - played live with support of rockÆnÆroll energy and
crazy improvisations. - I want to make a new music. To create
things that havenÆt been before. Just like John Cage did: he said
if heÆll come to a wall he wonÆt be able to get through, heÆll beat
his head against that wall. Why copy? People are afraid of leaving
the safe road, they think music has to be from A to B. But why
theyÆre fascinated by Hendrics? You need to break stereotypes, live
without the blockades. ItÆs hard. But it works sometimes - says
