Seriously sick little 10" here from Pattie Blingh aka Stones Throw's
Georgia Anne Muldrow, remixed by the awesome 2562 and Flying Lotus
collaborator Samiyam. Dave Huismans does his skipping broken
beat-cum-dubstep 2562 thing on his mix of Brother:the point, taking Ms
Blingh's sweet soul vox and encasing them within a fractured broken beat
revision much more velvety than anything else he has produced under this
name to date. The beauty of his 2562 project lies in the bottomless bass
and super sharp beat editing which falls somewhere between the clipped
broken beat styles of 4 hero's Dego and the stripped steppers of Kode 9,
making for a deliciously taut yet utterly loose style that's so easy to
fall into - its just mighty mighty stuff. Samiyam takes the original
into wonky downbeat territory on his mix, turning in a off kilter
killer, full of melting synths and hazy stoned rhythms to beautifully
complement Ms Blingh's vox, but sounding even better on the instrumental
version. Limited copies - ESSENTIAL PURCHASE!
