Release Notes:
--------------
The wannabe playboy takes his Enemies on a drunken Mediterranean
holiday.
The result? A cocktail of hedonism, romance and heartbroken philosophy.
A world unto itself. A crazy hybrid of Manu Chao and Ian Dury.
Includes the classics That's What I Like, Olivia and In The Pouring
Rain.
A pop/rock confection deliciously produced by Enemy #5, Riley McMahon.
From what deliciously demented mind comes a ditty for inmate love such
as Rattle the Bars ?
Weave you with a snarling horn , and seduce you with an accordion? YES
you can sing and dance to this music and enjoy about the lyrics?!!?! (
When was the last time you did that without the help of hallucinogens?)
Noneother than Spottiswoode and his enemies, whom I have had the
pleasure to see live at Baby Jupiter, NYC.
I was absolutely blown away. This CD is such a new sound that you can
only say that if you like the idea of Jim Morrisons' dangerous
sexuality and circusy theatrics, enveloped with the cerebral joy of
David Byrne , siphoned through Leonard Cohen's piano. That, my
lovelies, is the surreal, genius, rock-alt-Waits sound of Spottiswoode
and his Enemies., This band is HOT and the CD captures the act
superbly. Its' not your boss's rock and roll. This is how the millenium
sounds.
