You might recognize Nick PagliariΓÇÖs distinctive voice from his days as the
frontman for ItÆs been over a year since Nick Pagliari released his first solo
project. The EP entitled, Long Gone was independently released by the artist in
August of 2005. One year later, Pagliari finds himself in the same studio in
Memphis, TN working again with producer, Scott Hardin. His first full-length
solo album, The Sail, is scheduled to be released on Madjack Records in early
2007. ôI would describe the new LP as a medley of genres. There are folk songs,
rock and pop songs, and rooted Americana influences as well. Our goal was to
make a record that had a warm, rich sound like those early Stax recordings,
while preserving the rawness and grit. I think weÆve done it some justice to a
certain extent. I love recording in Memphis because I feel like artistically
there are no boundaries and I really enjoy working with some of the finest
musicians that IÆve been fortunate to meet and collaborate with.ö Pagliari, 28,
moved to Nashville in early 2002 and won recognition as the cities Best Unsigned
Songwriter in the Nashville Scene's Readers Poll in 2003. His band, Fairfax,
earned the title of Best New Local Band from [source] that year as well. Owing
to their high quality of music, Fairfax had their song "If I Die" placed on a
compilation disc entitled, This Is Americana, Vol.1, with other notable acts
such as Willie Nelson, The Jayhawks, and Lucinda Williams. In early 2007,
Pagliari plans on moving back to Memphis, the city he grew up in. Pagliari
signed on as a songwriter for Highland Music Publishing in January of 2006 where
he continues to hone his craft of songwriting. ôI would say that IÆm influenced
by songwriter types such as Bob Dylan, Patty Griffin, Tom Petty, Jeff Tweedy,
and Ryan Adams to name a few. I hope to be a successful songwriter in all senses
of the word. I would be extremely happy if I modeled my career after someone
like John Hiatt. I donÆt necessarily need the fame of a superstar band such as
The Rolling Stones, but I wouldnÆt mind if they called wanting to record a song
of mine.ö
