Here at GCHQ, weÆve selected our favourite vinyl releases from the
end of 2002 and compiled them on a CD for those who only got to
enjoy them on the dance floor. Previously unreleased tracks from
the mighty Funky Fresh Few, (due to release their debut album - the
dark and most excellent æStealingÆ in the Spring). GC stalwarts
Dual Control, show their flare for intricately laid beats on æTime
WasterÆ and æBoogie Down FeatureÆ. There are sweeping string
sections from Jon Kennedy, and The Nudge effortlessly offers up
æWindow PainÆ which he calls æSoul for the dance floorÆ. BrooklynÆs
Niko chants her æSound OffÆ army style, her debut LP will be out
towards the end of 2003.
Riton, with his abstract House sensibilities on æI Found My LoveÆ
and Disco/Soul daddy Only Child offers æFind A WayÆ featuring
DetroitÆs Ampfiddler. Mark Rae's two offerings æMake No MistakeÆ
and æLavishÆ featuring the beautiful voice of Veba show a fresh and
funky approach, a departure from his other work with Steve
Christian (R&C). Tony D æThe RhymeÆ featuring the delightful Kate
Rogers (Who is also signed to GC) finishes off the album in fitting
fashion as it was his record æCentral Parley EPÆ that officially
opened the doors of Grand Central as a Record Label way back in
1995.
