Release Notes:
The Imprints are a 5-piece pop / rock act based in
Portland, Oregon.
Their debut album, "Sounds of the Aftermath" met
critical acclaim after its release in 2005. Now, in
July of 2007, their aptly named follow up,
"Marvelous Escape," offers a whole new round of
catchy, provocative songs.
*NEW* CBS has licensed an Imprints' song to be used
in an episode of their hit sitcom, "How I Met Your
Mother."(Summer 2007)
Here is what some folks in the press had to say
about "Marvelous Escape" and "Sounds of the
Aftermath"
"The theme of their sophomore release, 'Marvelous
Escape' is provided by a series of
somebody-done-somebody-wrong songs. 'Long Chapter
One' is a 70's-inspired fragile heart piano pop that
morphs into a stomping Wilco-like coda. "Butterfly"
and "Sedation" leap out of the speakers as radio
singles, seamingly transported out of era in which
that description guaranteed commercial success.
Throughout, frontman Rob Stroup's sure handed vocals
and the band members' craftily woven instrumental
interplay lend the affair a butter-smooth confidence
more readily associated with major-label acts than
unsigned local indie bands. There is no good reason
that the Imprints' tunes shouldn't be ringing from
the stereo of every car rolling down broadway this
summer"
--Corey Dubrowa, The Oregonian
"Boy oh boy do I love the Imprints. Fans of the
Shins, Wilco, etc.. I dare you to find a better
collection of ridiculously catchy, well crafted
power pop"
--Abby White column, Performing Songwriter - vol 13
/ issue 89
"I'm absolutely floored....this is the most
refreshing, melodic music i've heard in a long
while. The expressive vocals and sure footed grasp
of intrinsic song structure is an unbeatable
combination, resulting in music that melts away all
inhibitions, demands attention, and changes the
listener somehow. This is very affecting music.
Expertly written and played. I love it"
--Alan haber, Host of "Pure Pop Radio, " WEBR-FM
