dXb Minilogue for many years. In 2008 it is almost dXb
dXb impossible to imagine club music without the two dXb
dXb musicians from Malm÷, Sweden. Nowadays, electronic dXb
dXb producers tend to retreat into their special dXb
dXb stylistic niche - Minilogue dare to draw the bigger dXb
dXb picture. After releasing outstanding productions on dXb
dXb such renowned labels as Traum, Crosstown Rebels and dXb
dXb Wagon Repair, their opus magnum is to appear on Sven dXb
dXb VΣths Cocoon Recordings. There are few producers who dXb
dXb match Cocoon's vision of an electronic sound both on dXb
dXb the dancefloor and beyond the club so perfectly: dXb
dXb "Animals" covers a wide spectrum of music, it reaches dXb
dXb from peaktime techno to beatless deep ambient. The dXb
dXb full range of Minilogue's vision of electronic music dXb
dXb is developed on a double CD, while the vinyl version dXb
dXb naturally focuses on the dance tracks. The immediacy dXb
dXb of the club tracks sweeps everything away that is dXb
dXb circumstantial and long-winded in contemporary dance dXb
dXb music. The tracks incorporate the elegance and dXb
dXb simplicity of classical early Nineties' techno, the dXb
dXb economy and lightness of the minimal sound and the dXb

dXb "Animals" is not a collection of single tracks but a dXb

dXb Sebastian Mullaert and Marcus Henriksson emerged from dXb
dXb opposing backgrounds. In his youth Sebastian played a dXb
dXb range of classical instruments, he even worked as a dXb
dXb violin teacher in his teens. At 18 he discovered dXb
dXb contemporary music and joined a band. Marcus used to dXb
dXb be a fan of Front 242 and Kraftwerk, he was ravished dXb
dXb by the repetitive beats of techno when the music dXb
dXb exploded in the nineties. He started to organize dXb
dXb parties of his own and became a well known DJ in dXb
dXb southern Sweden. When Sebastian and Marcus met at a dXb
dXb party, there was an immediate connection. With dXb
dXb Sebastian's formal knowledge and Marcus experience dXb
dXb with club music the two fitted together like a lock dXb
dXb and its matching key. As Son Kite and Trimatic they dXb
dXb became very successful in the trance scene, playing dXb
dXb enthusiastically received live sets all over the dXb
dXb world. With Minilogue they leave the boundaries of dXb
dXb that genre - and actually of any genre. After having dXb
dXb risen to the A-List of electronic producers, they dXb
dXb still reside in the tiny city of Malm÷. As boys from dXb
dXb the countryside they enjoy the easy and humble life dXb
dXb of a small town. At the same time Malm÷ has always dXb
dXb been very important for the underground dance music dXb
dXb scene of Sweden. Since techno and house have exploded dXb
dXb in this country, Stockholm tends to ride the hypes dXb
dXb and trends, while Malm÷ is fighting for the deeper dXb
dXb and more minimal side of the music. That is why dXb
dXb Sebastian and Marcus still feel strongly and dXb
dXb passionate about Malm÷ as their musical home. dXb

dXb Minilogue have always been very interested in the dXb
dXb visual aspect of their art, it is natural for them to dXb
dXb create a visual image as well as an audible one. For dXb
dXb many years they have thought of animals as the front dXb
dXb for Minilogue. These animals do not actually exist as dXb
dXb pets. They are mystic, imaginary creatures, merged dXb
dXb together from different species. They function as dXb
dXb symbols for Minilogue's approach to electronic music dXb
dXb as a mix of different genres and styles. The dXb
dXb production of the album was a notable effort: It took dXb
dXb Marcus and Sebastian three years until they were dXb
dXb entirely happy with every bit of "Animals". In order dXb
dXb to create something timeless, they quit working on dXb
dXb the tracks from time to time and returned with virgin dXb
dXb ears. The result couldn't be more striking: The dance dXb
dXb tracks remain powerful and humble, the ambient tracks dXb
dXb are subtle and bold at the same time. Minilogue's dXb
dXb music is emotional but not moody. While contemporary dXb
dXb electronic producers tend to get lost in layers of dXb
dXb sounds and reverb, "Animals" is spring-loaded and dXb
dXb nimble. Tracks so humble, effective and elegant they dXb
