Burning brilliance from Soil & Pimp Sessions -- easily one
of the hardest-edged jazz combos around! This short
release is only an EP, but it packs the same sort of
wallop you'll find in most full length sets -- thanks to
the group's endlessly dynamic energy, and their highly
rhythmic way of putting over a tune! The horns here are
strongly in the lead -- but the drums are pretty heavy too
-- really kicking up some of the tracks with a scattershot
rhythm that pushes the tunes along in a blinding array of
tenor, trumpet, and piano. Titles include "Storm", "Come
On Baby", "Pro Seed", and a live tune with a Japanese
title.
