| The Mercury Lounge has been a Mecca for the arts in Canada's capital |
| city of Ottawa, since its inception in November 1996. Its programming |
| purports a musical vision steeped in the traditions of jazz and yet |
| forward in its approach to encompass all its many derivatives. |
| Through its dynamic programming, the Mercury Lounge has successfully |
| connected the dots, uniting jazz with contemporary electronic break |
| beat culture. Within its walls the very philosophy of jazz, that of |
| change, abounds. It serves not only as a club, and live venue, but |
| also for poetry readings, dance performances and art gallery. |
