the last twelve months have been a busy time for sheffield based
future loop foundation (aka mark barrott). since the release last
june of his debut single discovery and soon after, his excellent
first album time and bass, mark has started to carve a name for
himself both within and outside of the drum and bass scene as a
new face to watch out for.
discovery was quickly picked up by mtv/vh1 for use on their world
fashion awards which was broadcast worldwide last fall. time and
bass was released in the us around the same time and peaked at #3
on the cmj electronic music chart, receiving solid college radio
support across the country.
the big break for future loop foundation came last year came when
as a result of a chance suggestion made by a friend, mark started
playing live. since then, he has played to many audiences around
the uk, including 3500 people at megadog's sell out show at
manchester apollo and at the influential event 'on it!' at
middlesborough arena, run by leo roche, founder of the seminal
club speed. roche described mark as: "the future of drum and bass;
he's got the rhythms plus tunes and melodies. he is going to be
huge!" his dynamic live set at talvin singh's london based anokha
club earned him an invitation from wilbur wilberforce, producer of
radio one's one in the jungle to perform live on air.
broadcast live from the studio on march 28th this year, the hour
long set was the first ever live drum and bass session broadcast
on radio one and earned mark many more offers of gigs including a
second tour of ireland, a sell out tour in belgium and a spot at
the glastonbury festival.
offers of remix work came soon after, with mixes recently
completed for will south, land of my mothers and a remix album of
the 70's classic cult album, vampyros lesbos.
future loop foundation's storming new single sonic drift/voodoo
sound, co-produced by michael dog, will be released in the uk on
september 15th and worked at clubs in the us this fall.
