jamaican woman with sharp-cut hair to enhance her profile and
clothing that always emphasized angles over curves.
following the study of theater at syracuse university and success
as a model, grace jones first three albums presented her as a
disco diva. the music including i need a man and la vie en rose
was unspectacular. it was her stage shows that made her a star and
helped popularize her songs. grace would use a whip onstage to
remove clothes from her male backup dancers and demand that
audience members come onstage and remove clothes to show her their
body. soon grace was known as "queen of the gay discos" and was
