A CD compilation of licensed material from the Chicago Trax label,
featuring the classic acid material by Larry Heard's Mr. Fingers
incarnation. Features 8 tracks, including his all time monster
tracks like "Can U Feel It" (instrumental & vocal versions
included), "Washing Machine", etc. Larry Heard (generally under the
moniker Mr. Fingers) is the key figure of the Chicago acid/house
explosion (alongside Phuture) & his early work from the late 80s is
as seminal and as analogous to the Chicago scene as Derrick May's
is to Detroit. In later years Heard recorded some more smoothly
flowing R&B stylings (be careful of anything affiliated with MCA)
and most recently some beautiful ambient house albums for Distance
(see Dance 2000). Until now, finding the tracks enclosed here on CD
was a difficult or downright impossible process, but this French CD
(on the unknown Mirakkle label) comes in and fills a glaring hole.
Granted it's one of the cheesiest looking CDs you'll ever laugh at,
and the sound is strictly crackly-vinyl transfer (being licensed
from Trax, you'd expect nothing better). But tracks like "Can You
Feel It' are the deepest that deep house ever got and for those
inclined, this is an essential home-listening document.
