"This is the first release by Jim and the French Vanilla and it is
called Roll Out the Candy. Not familiar with them? No surprise.
"They" have not really played out live much. This is the home
recording project of Jim from the Blind Shake. Jim gave me the
demo last Fall and I was immediately hooked. We are big fans of
the Blind Shake at Modern Radio so I went to Jim and said "hey,
why don't we do a CD-R release of this with some cool packaging".
Thus the project gained weight and it is now available. The result
is 13 kick ass songs not going over the 3 minute mark and some not
hitting the 2 minute mark. Its dark yet upbeat with a haunting
garage blues influenced sound to it. In the vein of stuff by
Michael Yonkers and 13th Floor Elevators. The packaging was hand
screened and the CD-Rs were all hand drawn on. They look fantastic
and we are pleased to make it available." Modern Radio
