Mod mania all the way through and through -- a sublime third set from the New
Untouchables scene -- every bit as wonderful as the first two! Like those great
collections, this one's built up from rare mod singles of the 60s -- obscure
gritty grooves awash in fuzzy guitars, burning Hammond, and heavy drums -- often
in a space that's uniquely somewhere between rock, funk, and soul! A few of the
names here are familiar, but as on previous volumes, most of the artists are
completely new to our ears -- which makes the "discovery" factor of the set
every bit as great as the music. Most tunes are upbeat and romping -- sure to
please fans of funkier rock work -- and titles include "Snakeskin" by Julie
Felix, "Looking For Something Better" by Rodys, "Mirrors" by Fire & Ice, "Abba"
by The Paragons, "Si Je Buvais Moins" by Douglas, "Midnight Moses" by Alex
Harvey, "Strange Magic" by Claude Bolling, "Music Ship" by Bastile, "Hold Up
Inusite" by Joanna, "A Minor Explosion" by Don Shinn & The Soul Agents, and
"Flashback" by The Noon Express.
