This is the sort of thing that causes major ructions.
There are few finer things in life than a freshly
rediscovered mine of vintage electronics, and from the
same Glo-Spot label that brought us the Delia
Derbyshire/Brian Hodgson/Don Harper Electrosonic
LP comes another treasure from the KPM Library's archive.

Ron Geesin is well-known among Pink Floyd fans as
the orchestrator and arranger of 'Atom Heart Mother
(suite)' recorded in 1970 - the same year he recorded
an innovative 'human body-sampling' soundtrack to a
film called The Body (that's a good thirty years before
Matmos and Matthew Herbert started messing about
with all that business) which established a relationship
with EMI Publishing, eventually leading him to the then
rather thin on the ground KPM. The music Geesin
provided ranges from highly digestible analogue synthesizer
miniatures to more abstract concrΦte pieces.

This being a library LP, Geesin goes all out to cram as
many different styles and examples of his electronic
repertoire into these two sides, ranging from atmospheric
oddities like 'Duet For Choir And Tunnel' to bafflingly
elaborate patterned compositions like 'Syncopot'.
The sheer complexity of Geesin's synthesis techniques are
something to be marvelled at. The particular lunacy of
'Duck Figures' is an incredibly physical, animalistic sounding
synthesizer patch, which does, as the title partially
intimates, have a bit of a Donald Duck-in-a-blender feel to it.

Everything you learn about Ron Geesin seems to paint a
picture of an eccentric in the finest sense, somewhere between
William Heath Robinson and Spike Milligan in terms of combining
an appetite for convoluted invention with nonsense-spewing
humour.

Few library releases are as filled with character and innovation
as this, and any fan of vintage electronic music or the
Radiophonic Workshop will find Electrosound utterly essential.
