█▒║ Subculture's mix concentrates on the history of house and techno, ║▒█
█▒║ featuring classic tracks by the likes of Round 2, Steve Poindexter ║▒█
█▒║ and Galaxy 2 Galaxy. "The idea behind our mix was to reflect on the ║▒█
█▒║ history of the different moods and grooves played on our Saturday ║▒█
█▒║ nights" explains Harri from the duo. "Rather than focus on peaktime ║▒█
█▒║ tunes, we selected tracks that for us, still stand the test of ║▒█
█▒║ time". ║▒█
█▒║ ║▒█
█▒║ "We tried to break it into chunks of history, selecting tracks more ║▒█
█▒║ because they represent an era or genre rather than thinking about ║▒█
█▒║ the mix as a whole, which perhaps made it a bit harder for ourselves ║▒█
█▒║ when it came to mixing it". ║▒█
█▒║ ║▒█
█▒║ Disc 2 is mixed JD Twitch and JG Wilkes, whose band-focused Optimo ║▒█
█▒║ nights have been a Sunday night staple at the venue for ten years ║▒█
█▒║ now. As you'd expect, the mix is diverse, ranging from the classic ║▒█
█▒║ techno ("The Bells") to punk (The Leather Nun, C Cat Trance) to funk ║▒█
█▒║ (Beat Conductor, The Linkwood Family) and beyond. ║▒█
█▒║ ║▒█
█▒║ "I guess the most obvious difference between this and previous mixes ║▒█
█▒║ and compilations weÆve done is the tempo" explains Wilkes. "We ║▒█
█▒║ wanted to drop it down lower. At 105-110bpm throughout, we've tried ║▒█
█▒║ to put something together that's uncluttered, that breathes and at ║▒█
█▒║ the same time maintains that low slung driving beat so mindful of a ║▒█
█▒║ sweaty night at Optimo." ║▒█
