Band from Brisbane/Gold Coast whose influences are as varied as their many
sounds. Spawned from a strong friendship between its three members, Oatmeal is
a band one third Polish, one third Finnish, and one third Australian. They
manage to resist hereditary tendencies to play polkas, in favour of intense rock
and roll. The members, Robert, Mark & Simon dont like to pidgeon-hole their
music, which shows as their songs range from ballady-jazz, through earthy
Australian, to pop with a bad attitude. Style Once described as indie Pop the
music of Oatmeal is energetic and catchy, rich in vocal harmonies, and
occasionally with a poetic message. Their influences are many, ranging from post
punk to grunge. --- Their new CD "theCube" reflects many of Oatmeal's
influences, with diverse styles across the 12 tracks.
