Palm Skin is back with this, his 4th Freerange release entitled Magnetic North.
As with his previous you can expect some immaculately produced deep, dubby
house that will sooth the soul and lift the spirits.
Kicking off with Magnetic North weÆre treated to a lush, layered, atmospheric
groove that keeps things building nicely but subtly over itÆs eight and a half
minutes duration. A simple sub bass pins it all down underneath while washes of
synth stabs and cut up strings keep the interest up top. A lovely drop in the
middle adds bags of energy making sure this little beauty will keep the dancefloor
grooving along perfectly.
On remix duties we have the latest German artist to start rising up the ranks;
Solomun. The Diynamic label boss and creator of some of the most exciting
electronic music alongside teammates Stimming and H.O.S.H. has been rocking
things the last year or so. Releases and remixes for the likes of Sonar
Kollektiv, Buzzin Fly, Dessous and Liebe Detail have put him and his Hamburg based crew
firmly on the map and rightly so. His mix of Magnetic North goes way deep but
keeps the groove so heavy and stripped back that it gets right under your skin.
The drops hit in all the right places too making this another one of those stand
out deep house tracks that are rocking the clubs right now.
Finally, Palmskin treats us to an excellent track aptly titled Wonderful Thing
which goes for a lighter, jazzier sound full of shimmering Rhodes lines and rolling,
disco infused beats and percussion. Coming on somewhere between Bob James and
Spirit Catcher, Wonderful Thing will create a special vibe when dropped in your
sets.
