Omara Portuondo came to global prominence as the female singer in the film and album 'Buena Vista Social Club'. Known as 'the Soul of Brazil', Maria BethΓnia was an integral part of the Tropicalia movement in Brazil.
In 2006, Omara Portuondo started touring Brazil. She wanted to meet Bethania. Not only did they meet, they agreed on recording an album together. In the recording process, they found a great mutual understanding. Even though most of the material was to be based on vast research, above all Cuban, the songs were chosen on a day-by-day basis during recording sessions, based on the musical complicity established since their first meeting.
The rest are memories, songs that translate their "new meeting", establishing new parallels from these singers from both countries.
'Omara Portuondo and Maria Bethania' is a work that demonstrates a new meeting enriched with a perfect mix of memories and impressions of a common world. A unique meeting of the female worlds of Brazil and Cuba making a unique album.
