1 White Reggae Troll 9:42
It's amazing what a few tabloid photos will do, one minute you're working away,
happy as Larry making wyrd free folk and putting together compilations for
Arthur magazine, and the next minute you're dating Lindsay Lohan - catapulted
into a far stranger world where faeries, spirits and goblins are replaced by
lawyers, agents and managers. Maybe this shift in focus has led our man Devandra
to this odd one sided 12" then, eschewing the folksy wailing he's become
synonymous with - 'White Reggae Troll' is a 10 minute jam, one half reggae and
one half punk-funk. Really, I'm not even joking, and stranger than this - it's
actually bloody good. What started off making me cringe so much I was likely to
have been kicked by Wayne Rooney on his way back from Whalley Range eventually
won me over - and about half way through then the twisted reggae turns into
Liquid Liquid style clipped funk... well - unexpected isn't the word. This is a
one time only pressing and is guaranteed to fly out - so get on it and start
tugging that beard.
