Takkyu Ishino is probably better known as part of Japanese ultra-cool
technopop outift Denki Groove. But while Denki's commercial success has
its own edge (especially for commercial pop), Ishino's solo work more
often pushes the boundaries of experimental. The result is hard, driving
tracks that rank among techno's finest output, similar to the work of Jeff
Mills or Ken Ishii. "Feeling's" future-retro vibe finds bubbling vintage
analog synthlines clashing with a brutal bassline and chaotic sequencing.
Mark Pember's "Meat Katie Mix" moves the track more into prog house
territory, but still retains the retro vibe. Oliver Ho's "Metamix" strips
bare the retro feel and plays it hard and straight-up tech-house.
