From the press release:
Lock up your Dad's old 7" vinyl because Italian producer Dino Lenny is on
the prowl and nothing is sacred! Proving that Norman Cook isn't the only
Housemartin with a penchant for phat beats, eighties born again Christian
Paul Heaton has given his nod of approval to Dino Lenny's stomping new
track Change The World. Having just finished writing the new Beautiful
South album in Spain Paul has returned to the UK to find out he is also
the lead vocalist on the biggest dance record in the country! Even the most
casual listener to Radio 1 specialist shows would not have been able to
miss this new house anthem featuring the distinctive vocal in a Love Story
style track with a huge pulsating piano riff. Change The World brilliantly
samples The Housemartins's first single Flag Day, which Dino had originally
sampled from an old 7". One of the limited edition white labels finally made
its way into the hands of Paul Heaton who immediately fell in love with the
record. He is eager to legitimise it, and is in his studio re-vocalling to
avoid sample clearance hold ups. He has also suggested adding extra lyrics
for the radio edit and will front the video and key TV appearances.
Dino Lenny made history back in November by becoming the only producer to
achieve Essential New Tune on Pete Tongs show for three weeks running. First
he was there with Bucci Bag by Andrea Doria and then with Change The World,
which has been given the accolade for two consecutive weeks. And with a Buzz
Chart Number 2 position this is destined to be a huge hit.
Commenting on the track Dino said: When I first told my friends of the idea,
they took the piss, but it worked as well I wanted it to, and now the track
seems to have a life of its own. I know Norman Cook was after one. In fact
we've had emails from as far away as Australia wanting to get hold of it.
P.S. Is it Jack Nicholson that they sample in the original Dino Lenny Mix??
I wonder how that got cleared...
