Black Balloons is a dark ride from industrial-electro-throb to free-jazz-freak
out whilst the B side grabs dancefloor techno and merges with one of the
silliest bass lines ever committed to 7" vinyl.
Hailing from the musical badlands of Newcastle upon Tyne, Guessmen merge more
ideas into their songs than most bands come up with in a whole career. Their
brand new album, Back From The Bins, is overflowing with off beat pop songs
sculpted from found sounds and reclaimed electronic instruments that have been
lovingly recycled and reassembled in the Guessmen research facility.
Pioneers of the contra-pop sound, the Geordie trioÆs off-kilter beats and
bizarre woodwind and laptop-derived sounds combine with dark tales of mermaids,
animals and robots to create a free music that is still recognisable as pop -
but only justà So extreme is their magpie mix that it prompted Isaac Hayes to
