                 Anders Ilar really beginning to power up now,
                 after a brace of twelves for Narita, and with
                 further extended work due for them and Plong! in
                 turn, there seems to be a bottomless supply of
                 minimal goods issuing from this guy right now.
                 Emerging as if from out of the woods in Dusseldorf
                 comes this highly original take on the fourfour
                 obstacle course. "Existing in the dreams of a
                 flower" opens in splendid style, deep river
                 melodies flowing over a more than powerful bass
                 drums configuration, this fairly tugs away at the
                 ears, but retains a certain reserve throughout,
                 allowing the large bottom end to do all the work.
                 "Can't force a tree to grow" welds a seismic
                 boogie bass and a sizeable amount of swing to some
                 minutely accurate percussion. The title cut swells
                 with memory of dub, and still that grooving
                 bassline element carries proceedings, "Lakeside"
                 confirms what we knew all along - cool twelve -
                 and what we suspected too - minimal music can
                 still be funky.
