| With its fresh and explosive take on new rock, Gran Casino is poised to |
| be the biggest thing to come from Waterloo, Ontario since the |
| Blackberry. The highly motivated quartet of guitarist/vocalist Mark |
| Wanka, guitarist/keyboardist Andrew Thorpe, bassist Geoff Albrecht, and |
| drummer Dan Byrne (all around age 20) have just finished sessions in New |
| York City with producer Alex Newport (At The Drive-In, The Mars Volta). |
| It was an ideal match for the band members, the end result of a casual |
| email to Newport who subsequently helped work out material at Gran |
| Casino's rehearsal space. At present, the band is planning to test the |
| waters with an EP this spring entitled Buried Famous, although once the |
| buzz about their go-for-broke live show begins building, there is sure |
| to be plenty of interest in a full-length release in short order. As a |
| band to keep a close eye on in 2008, there aren't many safer bets than |
| Gran Casino. |
