NOTE: The previous releases was vinyl - This is the Maxi-CD Edition
Euphoria distinguish themselves from the rest of electronica through
their incorporation of soulful and tres analog instrumental touches. In
this maxi-single, they take the slide Dobro hook from "Delirium" and
give it a thorough workout. And while Euphoria might be accused of
taking a good idea and beating it to death, the results are actually
quite satisfying. The aptly named "Radio Edit" starts things out,
establishing a theme which is then reworked with a variety of
treatments and grooves to produce a compelling sonic journey.
At slightly over 30 minutes, this maxy-single makes a perfect break
from whatever you happen to be listening to at the time. Throw it in
your CD changer as a wild card amongst a batch of rock, pop, blues, or
what have you. It makes a refreshing change of pace from almost any
style. Of course, it also works well as ambient music; the slide guitar
continuously rising, falling, and re-emerging from a varied stream of
synthesizers and percussion. "Delirium Remixes" will certainly appeal
to anyone who liked Euphoria's self titled album. Lovers of electronica
won't likely be disappointed either. Overall, a nice little CD.
