Layo & Bushwacka!, the dance double-act that
brought us æLove StoryÆ and æLet the good times
rollÆ are back with a hot new remix. Peter
RaeburnÆs cinematic æCelebrareÆ has been given the
treatment by Layo & Bushwacka! and is now rocking
dance floors across the globe with the duoÆs
trademark tech-house sound.
Weaving together classical elements including a
Bulgarian choir, Scottish renaissance singers and
a New York-based gypsy-punk band, the track has a
musical DNA unlikely to be matched by any of this
summerÆs soundtracks. Throw in some melodic Latin
vocals, harps, violins and huge double basses;
layer it all over a muscular bassline and youÆve
got an idea of what æCelebrareÆ (pronounced
æKel-eh-bra-rayÆ) sounds like.
The track features a brooding string intro
instantly recognisable from the original, with a
building bassline warbling then breaking to reveal
RaeburnÆs euphoric Latin vocal. The tech-house
breakdown follows a cinematic mix of rising
strings and chanting vocals using a bass hook
straight from the Space Terrace.
Road tested by Layo & Bushwacka! on their recent
tour, æCelebrareÆ has already made an impact in
Miami, Sydney and of course û The End. The Olmetto
Records front men worked closely with composer
Peter Raeburn and co-writer/co-producer Nick
Foster, who originally cut the track for the
Smirnoff Sea ad (the one with lots of planes and
boats coming out of the sea), to ensure the right
balance between the originalÆs classical roots and
their ever-evolving sound. The result is a
euphoric remix combining classical elements and
modern synths, the likes of which are rarely heard
in todayÆs clubs.
Due for a full release in July, æCelebrareÆ has
already received strong support from a number of
top DJs. Discussing the release, Layo commented:
ôWe get a lot of requests to do remix projects,
most of which donÆt really break new ground. WeÆre
always striving to up the ante, so to get the
chance to re-work something as original as
Celebrare was too good an opportunity to turn
down. ItÆs always good to be able to make tracks
that step out of the ordinary, challenging
clubbers and DJs at the same time.
