--------------------------- Release Notes:
Lined up alongside the likes of Carl Craig, Anthony Shakir and Moodyman, Sherard
Ingram (aka Urban Tribe) has been at the forefront of Detroit's musical history
- with his seminal 'Covert Action' on Retroactive regularly pulled up as a Motor
City classic. But enough of the history lesson, as brand new full-length
'Authorized Clinical Trials' is here and ready to kick your speakers in...
Hard-boiled to the very core, this is unremitting aquatic bleepage given a
varnish of Drexciyan variation - the result being somewhere between Detroit and
East London, mixing electroid and low-end elements into the ratchet scarred-sky
rhythms that haunt the record. Opening with 'Polar Molecule', Urban Tribe flecks
his foundation of concrete beats with shards of digital flotsam; appearing
neither contrived nor extraneous, it hits the sweet-spot with utter aplomb and
manages to appeal on both a primal dancefloor level as well as up-close on the
headphones. From here, the likes of 'Microwave Energies', 'Mass' and 'T Cell'
are towering diktats on the force achievable through such balls-to-the-wall
sonic gymnastics - with 'Amino Acid Sequence' pulling elements from here, there
and everywhere in order to achieve it's wildly oscillating style. Epic without
even straining, this is a tribe worth fighting for...
Enjoy!
