We really didn't think it could get any fresher than Martyn's incredible recent 12" for the Apple Pips label,
but this second release for the 3024 imprint must surely rank as the absolute pinnacle of a movement that
has already provided us with some stone cold killers this year, amalgamating dubstep, 2-step, House,
Garage and Techno into a fierce yet glamorous beast that's pushing all the right buttons for us in 2008.
'Natural Selection' heads up the A-side on a warped 2-step tip with a disturbed vocal crackle from
Instra:mental's Kid Drama and more of those perfected chord sequences cut straight out of the Theo
Parrish handbook, making for a track that merges Berlin dub, Slow House and Dubstep without any effort
and totally destroying us in the process. 'Vancouver' on the flip again fuses the dub chord driven styles of
classic Maurizio with sexy rhythm syncopations and a dusty jazz mood that's found him favour with a far
wider audience than your average dubstep producer. There's a huge amount of hype around this guy and
12" right now - and every last bit of it is for once utterly justified. Immense twelve - pick one up while you
can!!!
