█░█▒ Elbow Beach Surf Club began in the summer of 2006 ▒█░█
█░█▒ in the backyard and basement of 127 Grange St. in ▒█░█
█░█▒ Guelph, Ontario. This house was the catalyst for a ▒█░█
█░█▒ much larger community of musicians and artists now ▒█░█
█░█▒ under the Burnt Oak name. Early on the ideas and ▒█░█
█░█▒ sounds changed rapidly and the band drew on ▒█░█
█░█▒ elements of folk, indie, surf, and post punk noise. ▒█░█
█░█▒ As the summer drew to a close the band began ▒█░█
█░█▒ playing house shows with a line up consisting of ▒█░█
█░█▒ Lindsay Roe, Kevin Barnhorst (of Brides and Hollow ▒█░█
█░█▒ Hooves), Kirsten Palm, Dave Bazinet (of TIN and Spy ▒█░█
█░█▒ Machine 16), and Brad McInerney. They are often ▒█░█
█░█▒ joined by Martin Eckart (of Republic of Safety and ▒█░█
█░█▒ Special Purpose) on Saxophone. ▒█░█
█░█▒ ▒█░█
█░█▒ After a bunch of chaotic and noisy live ▒█░█
█░█▒ experiments, the Surf Club began writing songs for ▒█░█
█░█▒ their self titled EP. Their first release consisted ▒█░█
█░█▒ of 7 songs and was released in February 2007 on ▒█░█
█░█▒ Burnt Oak records. They spent the spring and summer ▒█░█
█░█▒ playing packed house shows all over Guelph, ▒█░█
█░█▒ Waterloo, and Hamilton. ▒█░█
█░█▒ ▒█░█
█░█▒ Only 6 months later the Surf Club released their ▒█░█
█░█▒ new 'Billy Club' EP. This new 9 song EP was ▒█░█
█░█▒ recorded by the band live off the floor in a boat ▒█░█
█░█▒ warehouse on the Eramosa river in Guelph. Their ▒█░█
█░█▒ newest release was recorded, produced, and ▒█░█
█░█▒ screenprinted by the band and was put out on Burnt ▒█░█
█░█▒ Oak records. The new EP incorporates experimental ▒█░█
█░█▒ pop elements alongside shifting post punk roots ▒█░█
█░█▒ that result in a unique mixture of melodies and ▒█░█
█░█▒ cathartic noise. In the coming new year the band is ▒█░█
█░█▒ releasing a split 7" single and planning an East ▒█░█
█░█▒ Coast tour for the springtime. ▒█░█
