a new music scene has developed in gothenburg. in a circle of
young jazz inspired producers modern club music develops and its
released all over the world and celebrated by those who know. they
call their world 'gonkyburg' and 2003 could be their year.
'goteburg felt a bit boring, so we wanted to invent a new
community' jonas quant tells us. he and his colleague joel
eriksson gave birth to the expression. the gonkyburgians avoid to
classify their music, but percieves themselves as a relaxed bunch
of similar minded people without an attitude. all the different
constellations are a mikado-like mixture of crossbreeds. everyone
seems to be playing on or remixing each others tunes. and its the
collaborations and the community that is the essence. this is
pointed out by the two, who may be the most established amongst
the bunch, jonas quant and andreas saag 'we wouldn't be where we
are today without the support from the others'. at the same time
they are very anxious to make sure thay don't sound like some
exclusive club. gonkyburg is open to anyone. or as arvid puts it:
all nice people making good music are welcome. by some reason they
manage to combine the feeling fromold jazz, soul and fusion
legends. its very innocent and not at all complex, at the same
time its very worked through, warm and soulful. simple with style.

miracle man is the first 12ö from quantÆs coming up new album due
in autumn 2003 and it comes up with a striking gonkyburgian
line-up. the well approved team of jonas and exceptional vocalist
ernesto were together writing the floor hitting soul tune ômiracle
manö that a few years ago nobody would have expected to come from
the northern seas. maybe thatÆs what stevie wonder would have
liked to sound like, if he was born 30 years later. another young
and extremely talented vocalist stars on the second song
ôrevengeö. salome is enriching it with an ear-catching melody that
might follow you in your deepest dreams. you could not dream
better! this fine tune was remixed by nobody else than hird, whoÆs
track ôkeep you hirdö was just celebrated around the globe after
first appearing on alan brownÆs collection ôdestination: outö.
