With the change in decade to the 1980s, Dead or Alive developed into a
more somber, melodramatic tone, and a good deal of attention was given
to Burns' gender-bending look rather than focusing on producing hits.
Renewed industry confidence came in 1984 when the release of "You spin
me round" hit the scene. This success continued with their "Mad, Bad
and Dangerous To Know" album and the hit "Brand New Lover." With support
for Dead or Alive dwindling this release was the hit Dead or Alive needed
in order to create the swirl of attention necessary to maintain their
legion of fans. No electronic collection is complete without it.
