| | Recently, Kemet Records has been relaunched | |
| | by label owner Mark X, and they've been | |
| | bringing you new style jungle tunes with | |
| | ragga influences. In addition, they've also | |
| | re-released several of their classic older | |
| | amen smashers. But the most promising thing | |
| | they've done so far has been their series of | |
| | previously unreleased gems from the Kemet | |
| | vaults. With KM27 and KM29, they've managed | |
| | to unearth six little heard gems from their | |
| | prolific output of the mid 90's. So what | |
| | have we done? | |
| | | |
| | SOUR's taking you straight to the source. | |
| | | |
| | One of two CDs licensed by Japanese label | |
| | AVEX, this two-disc compilation "Kemet | |
| | Presents: Jungle To Jungle" is everything the | |
| | Kemet fan could ever want. The first disc is | |
| | a relabeled version of their 1995 album, | |
| | "Champion Jungle Sound", featuring all the | |
| | tracks you know and love, including | |
| | "Screwface", "The Box Reopens", "The Fruit", | |
| | and "Lovin Part One". The second disc is | |
| | what makes this such a collector's item: 13 | |
| | tracks straight from the Kemet unreleased | |
| | dubplate section. Prior to their recent | |
| | releases, this was the only place you could | |
| | find such massive tunes like "Dub On Fire" | |
| | (aka "Pass Me A Dubplate"), "Champion Lover" | |
| | (aka "Loving You"), and FOI's masterful | |
| | "October 16th". In addition to this, there's | |
| | plenty of tunes that have yet to be released | |
| | on vinyl, such as Hard Drive's "Hold On", | |
| | Chatter Bee's "High Plane Drifter", and the | |
| | huge potential anthem, "Getto Music" by | |
| | Frighty, Jucksie Nice and FOI. 13 pure, | |
| | slamming jungle tunes from when the breakbeat | |
| | meant business. Across the two discs, over | |
| | two and a half hours of music. Don't pass | |
| | this one by. And if you're serious about it, | |
| | check with your local music store that can | |
| | order import CDs, for as far as I know, this | |
| | two disc set is still available in Japan. | |
| | Give them the catalogue number and record | |
| | label, and expect to plunk down around 20, | |
| | 25 quid -- but it's well worth it. | |
