the outcome, after two years of the block 16 project, is morning
sun. comprising of house, electro, dub, soul, latin and lounge, the
album is a testament to block 16's diverse musical
influences. not content with pure instrumental tracks, the album
features collaborations with some highly respected vocalists. 'find
an oasis' features the lush vocals of jhelisa conjuring up images
of a tropical island, but in block 16's own words 'it's more about
loss and freedom'. jon luciens contribution to the title track
'morning sun' was recorded in one take and reminisces back to the
vintage lucien while on 'can't stop' robert owens delievers a
beautiful love song dripping with soul and delivered with all the
classic owen hallmarks. reggae legend bim sherman adds whispering
vocals to 'my sunshine', just before his untimely death, and made
this track a dub masterpiece.
